Honor the Journey

Even though we don’t understand each other very well due to our different native languages, I interact with a female every day who smiles frequently and always returns my enthusiastic gestures of “hey, we’re both human and I see your awesomeness”.

She didn’t seem like herself last week so when our paths crossed this week, I inquired “are you ok?” I mean, how could she not be? She’s super bubbly, has beautiful skin, and works incredibly hard at her job.

“I’m ok”, she said. She lifted her arm to show me a very large bruise. In shock I asked, “what happened?” She shared that she has cancer and goes for chemo every two weeks. She’s had it for 10 YEARS. She went on to share how much she loves her job (by the way, her job is very far from easy) and even showed me pics of her son and grandson.

If I told you the type of cancer this woman has been battling for 10 years, you would be in shock. That’s because she troops on every day and makes a decade long war seem like a non-event.

And at the juncture of my mind simultaneously processing perception and reality, I was distinctly reminded how important it is to see every one we interact with as a manifestation of divine love, regardless of the Life lense we strap on every day.

May peace be with you today during your journey.
